When Shahrukh Khan showed clips of latest film "ASOKA" , in Tokyo in 1st week of Sept. the Japanese distributors and the audience were so impressed and excited by the movie that they besieged Shahrukh to buy the film. "ASOKA" was one of the closing films at Venice Film Festival sharing the honours with Steven Spielberg's "Artificial Intelligence" and Woody Allen's Latest. From Venice the film will move to Toronto Film Festival.

At a time when there is a fear of worldwide tension due to the terrorist attack on U.S.A. and the U.S.A. is preparing to retaliate there is a direct confrontation between  the terrorist forces on one hand and the others to prove supremacy under the guise of pseudo-religionism the timing of ASOKA gains importance as the character of ASOKA has been known to be of a Ruler who after having a great imperial expansionism, got detracted and depressed from the blooddshed,  initiated in the process and path of self-search and peace for the attainment of purity. Interestingly the countries where Budhism is followed to a large extent i.e. China and Japan are having a watchful role in appeal of U.S. for World Wide support. There may be a gap of The timing of retaliation and the premiere of movie. The retaliation may come first and the movie later and the movie may come first and the involvement and reactionary attacks of more countries may come later.In this situation whether the movie 'ASOKA' can convey a real meaningful message? Only time can tell.
